UDF Rules Thread Empty UDF Rules Thread

I was able to salvage some of the rules that we implemented in UDF 1. I think they need revision too.. affraid

All HotU tournaments are FREE of charge. We will not be asking for any payments whatsoever.

Anyone can join the tourney. But since we are giving away cards that most players have, we will prioritize new players for the tourney slots. To join, email underdogfight@gmail.com or PM The Alpha Male here or Borsalino Flores in Warstorm. Of course, we will not always be giving away so-called "trash cards." Depending on the format, CC's or even T5's may also be given away.

As much as we want every participant to be present in the tourney, the timezones and our personal schedules will make this impossible. Because of this, we will just check battle links that will be sent by the participants for each match.

Tournaments will be done in Standard Swiss unless it can't be applied. In that case, "Modified" Round Robin will be used instead.

In Standard Swiss, participants will be randomly seeded and matched to other participants. Winners will be determined based on points garnered during the tourney. Each fight is composed of two matches, with one additional match in case of a tie. A sweep will be given 3 points while winning 2 of 3 will be given 2 points. Winning 1 match out of 3 will be given a point. In "Modified" Round Robin, participants will battle all other participants in the tourney, but instead of the usual one match round robin, each fight will have three matches. This is to lessen the chance of losing by a bad draw. Also, more fights mean more battles for unlocking achievements. The scoring system in the Standard Swiss format will also be applied and will be used in case of a tie.

Deck formats will be determined depending on the participants' card collections to make matches fair. Participants will receive PMs from members of the HotU staff with regards to tournament formats and other instructions. Please refer to the TOURNAMENT FORMATS post for details.

For Standard Swiss, tournament pairings will be listed in THE HOARD. Still, the staff will PM the participants to confirm pairings. For "Modified" Round Robin, the challengers will be sent instructions through PM.

The staff will randomly determine the challenger (as the one who accepts the challenge will go first). The challenger will be notified through PM. Once the challenger receives the message, he or she may inform his opponent right away. It is the duty of the challenger to PM his opponent before issuing any challenge. It would be better too if he or she will wait for his or her opponent's response. If the opponent fails to respond within the allotted time (this will be decided by the staff and participants), the challenger should inform the staff immediately.

Once the challenge is sent, the recipient should make sure that he or she defends with a legal squad. Failure to do so will result in a forfeit.

The winner of the previous match will send the challenge in the next match. If one participant wins on both of the first matches (sweep), there is no need to have a third match.

BOTH sides should send their battle links to The Alpha Male at HotU. The date/time of each battle link, should be specified (server time will be used). In case one side is unable to send the battle link within the given grace period, it will be assumed that the links sent by the other player is valid. If ever the battle links don't match, both sides will be asked to send screenshots of their History or War Report to confirm.

In special cases where all the participants are online, the HotU chatbox will be used instead of Warstorm chat to avoid disturbing the other players online. The staff will preside over the event and instruct the participants on how to proceed.

Tournament results will be posted in the UDF boards.

Failure to comply with the rules will result in a forfeit or ban from other UDF events.

-END

Well, this was the UDF 1 "rule sheet." I'll be asking for some advice regarding this. Please reply to this post for any feedbacks/suggestions for revision. Thanks! affraid
